Holland Pond History

Short History of the Sokokis Ski Club

The summer of 1957 three boys, Frank Kitchenka, Richard Cain and Robert Bagley put on the first ski show on Lake Sokokis.  It was put on at Kitchenka’s cottage, now Driscoll’s, on the lower lake.  At that time there were only 36 cottages around the lake.  Pickerel Pond had 16 cottages.  Both lakes had skiers and the show lasted for one hour and 40 minutes.

1958, 1959 and 1960 the show was run from Kitchenka’s.
